DuPont introduces Barricade^® herbicide for cleaner cereals crops.

Mississauga, Ontario - January 28, 2010 - New DuPont™ Barricade® herbicide will provide growers with cleaner fields, thanks to its unprecedented control of key broadleaf weeds and its ability to help manage weed resistance. With a wide window of application and easy to handle packaging, Barricade^® will also offer exceptional convenience and give growers more time to get their herbicide down.

Barricade® leverages the strengths of three active ingredients from two different herbicide groups to provide control of a broad range of broadleaf weeds including:

• Cleavers
• Cow cockle
• Hemp-nettle
• Kochia
• Lamb's-quarters
• Redroot pigweed
• Smartweed (Lady's-thumb)
• Stinkweed
• Volunteer canola
• Wild buckwheat
• Wild mustard

Barricade^® also provides suppression of Canada thistle and Russian thistle.

"Barricade^® will provide growers with consistently powerful performance on a broad range of weeds," says Jon Gough, DuPont Canada product manager responsible for cereal crops. "Having active ingredients from Groups 2 and 4 make Barricade^® an effective resistance management tool, particularly on fields where both cleavers and kochia are a problem."

Barricade^® can be used in spring wheat, durum wheat, and spring barley from the 2-leaf stage up to the full flag leaf stage. Barricade® is rainfast in one hour and breaks down quickly in the soil: giving growers more application flexibility in uncertain weather conditions and no cropping restrictions the following year.

DuPont™ Barricade^® is packaged in a convenient, easy-to-handle 40-acre case containing a dry herbicide in a 486 g jug and a liquid herbicide in a 6.4 L jug.

Because it's powered by Solumax® soluble granules, the dry component of Barricade® dissolves completely into solution, which means it is rapidly absorbed into weeds for effective and consistent control. It's easier to clean out of the sprayer, so there's less risk to subsequently sprayed crops like peas or canola.
